Building Community, Enriching Education, & Raising Funds

The Friends of Ewell Grove (FOEG) is Ewell Grove’s parent/teacher association (PTA), and by joining the school you are automatically a member. We are run by a committee of parent volunteers with the aim of raising money for our school and having as much fun as possible in the process!

Whilst some of our events are more profitable than others, raising money is not always our sole objective: the sense of school community is a huge part of what we do. As such, some of the events we run throughout the year are purely for the social aspects: giving parents a chance to meet new friends at community gatherings such as coffee mornings and Book Club, and organising activities for the children, like our popular bubble bursting and school discos. We also aim to forge links with local businesses and the community at large.

We are a friendly and enthusiastic group where nobody’s contribution is too small!  Every penny raised directly benefits your child.

How have the children benefited?

Last year FOEG raised over £23,000 for the school, and this year we have already bought new class sets of iPads and upgraded the portable outdoor speaker system. Recent significant donations to the school were used to refurbish the Orchard Garden and the EYFS outside learning space, and the outdoor improvement project will soon continue with funds allocated to replace the Orchard patio and add step-free access.

Our fundraising in previous years has paid for many things that are still well-used today, such as the sound system in the school hall, interactive whiteboards in every classroom, playground markings, and books for the classroom libraries. Every year we also donate the school Christmas tree.

How can you help with events?

Being a member of the Friends of Ewell Grove is not only rewarding, fun, and sociable, but also a great way to meet new friends and get more involved with the school. There are many different ways you can help, no matter how much or how little spare time you have to offer. None of our events would be a success without the parents and children who attend and take part.

We are always in need of volunteers, whether it is running stalls at our fairs, helping to serve cakes at a playground treat sale, or organising donated books for the children to choose from at our free book swap on World Book Day. Even if you can only offer half an hour of your time, this will be greatly appreciated.

How else can you raise money for us?

As well as supporting FOEG events, there are many easy ways that you can raise money for the school that really make a huge difference.

easyfundraising – Generate donations from hundreds of online retailers (including M&S, Argos, Sainsbury's, and John Lewis, to name but a few) every time you shop online, at no extra cost to yourself. Go to easyfundraising.org.uk and register for a free account, choose Friends of Ewell Grove as your charity, then just start shopping! As long as you navigate to the store’s web page from easyfundraising, we will get a donation – we recommend downloading their Donation Reminder (via web browser extension, or iPhone or Android app) to make it even easier to use, as a pop-up will appear when you open eligible websites and remind you to “enable donation”. Last year easyfundraising donated £325 to the school, all generated by our supporters’ online shopping, so those little purchases really do add up.

Stikins – Order the personalised name labels you need for all of your child’s school uniform items via stikins.co.uk and quote our school number 6980. They will then pay FOEG a 30% commission on your order.

Stamptastic – Alternatively, you can buy name labelling stamps from stamptastic.co.uk. You will receive 20% off your order and earn FOEG a 15% commission for the school if you enter our PTA code KT171UZ in the discount box.

Your School Lottery – Try your luck and support Ewell Grove at the same time by playing this weekly draw, with 40p from every £1 entry going to our school. One of our players wins a small cash prize every Saturday (the more players we have, the bigger it gets), and you could even win a £25,000 jackpot! Once a month, your ticket also gives you entry into an extra Super Draw – recent past prizes have included £1000 of supermarket vouchers, a PS5 Pro gaming bundle, and a £3000 Christmas cash bonus. Sign up to support us at yourschoollottery.co.uk.

Prize Donations & Event Sponsorship – If you are a working parent, could your business or employer help us? We always welcome raffle prize donations or sponsorship of events and, in return, can give your company publicity as one of our charity’s supporters on our social media accounts and in notices to our school community.

Corporate Donations / Matched Funding – Some larger businesses have charitable giving schemes and will donate to a charity on your behalf, or match money you raise. These can really boost our fundraising and make a huge difference to the school, so if you work for a large company and are able to speak to your HR department about any available charity initiatives, we would love to hear from you.

How can I find out more?

We are always delighted to hear from anybody who would like to get involved, no matter how much or how little you can do, whether that is behind the scenes, helping us with things that can be done at home or helping out at one of our many events. We welcome anyone with an interest in our school; parents, carers, grandparents, staff, childminders, and members of our local community.

To find out more, please email foeg@ewell-grove.surrey.sch.uk to join our mailing list. You are also warmly invited to join any of our Open Meetings, which take place two to three times per term, and if you use social media, then do follow us on Facebook and Instagram for announcements of our events, partnerships, nearly new uniform sales, and the odd reminder about non-uniform days!
