Building Community, Enriching Education, & Raising Funds
The Friends of Ewell Grove is Ewell Grove’s parent/teacher association (PTA) and by joining the school you are automatically a member. We are run by a committee of parent volunteers with an aim to raise money for our school, having as much fun as possible in the process!
Whilst some of our events are more profitable that others, raising money is not always our sole objective. The sense of school community is a huge part of what we do. As such we also run events throughout the year purely for the social aspects; giving parents a chance to meet new friends at events such as Quiz Night or community gatherings such as Coffee Mornings and Book Club, and organising activities for the children such as our popular Bubble Bursting, School Discos, and World Book Day free book swap. We also aim to forge links with local businesses and the community at large.
We are a friendly enthusiastic group where nobody’s contribution is too small! Every penny raised directly benefits your child.
How have the children benefited?
Last year FOEG donated over £25,000 to the school. Most recently, money we raised has been used to create a new multi sports/play area, buy computer equipment for the school, and provide new playground markings. This year we are continuing to raise money for outdoor provision at the school, with a second phase of Orchard Garden refurbishment and the purchase new items for the EYFS outside area.
In previous years our fundraising has paid for many things that are still well used today, such as the sound system in the school hall, interactive whiteboards in every classroom, outside table tennis tables for the older years, and new books for the classroom libraries. Every year we also donate the school Christmas Tree.
How can you help with events?
Being a member of the FOEG is not only rewarding, fun, and sociable, but also a great way to meet new friends and get more involved with the school.
There are many different ways you can help, whether you have lots of time to offer or not. None of our events would be a success without the parents and children who attend and take part.
We are always in need of volunteers, whether it’s running stalls at our Fairs, helping to serve cakes at a cake sale, or organising donated books for the children to choose from at our free book swap on World Book Day. Even if you can only offer half an hour of your time, this will be greatly appreciated.
How else can you raise money for us?
As well as supporting FOEG events, there are many easy ways that you can raise money for the school which really make a huge difference.
Easy Fundraising – Generate donations from hundreds of online retailers (including M&S, Argos, Sainsburys, and John Lewis, to name but a few) every time you shop online, at no extra cost to yourself. Go to easyfundraising.org.uk and register for a free account, choosing Friends of Ewell Grove as your charity, then just start shopping! As long as you navigate to the store’s web page from easyfundraising, we will get a donation – we recommend downloading their Donation Reminder (via web browser extension, or iPhone app), which makes it even easier to use, as a pop-up will appear when you open eligible websites and remind you to “enable donation”. So far Easy Fundraising have donated over £1,600 to the school, so all those little purchases really do add up.
Stikins – Order the personalised name labels you need for all of your child’s school uniform items via stikins.co.uk and quote our school number 6980. They will then pay FOEG 30% commission on your order.
Corporate Donations / Match Funding – Some larger business have charity schemes and will donate to a charity on your behalf, or match money you raise. This can really make a huge difference to the school, so if you work for a large company and are able to speak to your HR department about any charity initiatives, we’d love to hear from you.
How can I find out more?
We are always delighted to hear from anybody who would like to get involved, no matter how much or how little you can do, whether that is behind the scenes helping us with things that can be done at home or helping out at one of our many events.
